Speculation: I’m aware I’m not the first to speculate this but going by those screenshots, I actually think somewhere in the Series 9 premiere, we’re going to get flashbacks to Karn where similar to The Night Of The Doctor, a decaying/dying version of the Master will be given a chance of regeneration by the Sisterhood. Hence the Master becoming Missy.
